Villa Levi

Posted at May 2, 2014 | By : | Categories : Bali Villas | Comments Off on Villa Levi

Naming villas has become an art form in Bali. In an effort to seduce potential guests with mental images of paradise some appropriate the names of Hindu gods or resort to using ancient Sanskrit words to describe Balinese objects of beauty. Four-bedroom Villa Levi is less audacious, preferring to let this river-island sanctuary speak for itself. A villa as stunningly designed, positioned and furnished as this, needs no gimmicks.

They say that to design a new home you have to build it and knock it down twice before you get it right. At Villa Levi they got it right first time. Following the Balinese dictum of the family compound, this beautiful residence comprises four separate pavilions surrounding a courtyard, which in this case is represented by a large sunken lawn and a swimming pool resting above a tree-enshrouded river.

Villa Levi fuses its gorgeous location with contemporary architecture, recycled timbers, richly patterned stonework, chic interiors, security, privacy and absolute attention to detail from an eco-aware standpoint. You will love the tropical open-air living spaces, 16m swimming pool, alfresco bathrooms, dedicated spa, and close-to-nature relaxation areas, which include a rooftop deck where sundowners will be quaffed beneath the shade of the towering trees that line the property’s edge, while butterflies and kingfishers dart and flit through the garden and along the river banks. The dining area is so very comfortable and well located that it is bound to become the focal point for all non-poolside socialising. From here the whole villa can be absorbed, and with its cosy seating, cooling breezes and convenient access to the drinks cabinet, there is little reason to move from your chair – especially with the services of the personal butlers and an excellent private chef creating dishes from the villa’s tantalising a la carte menu. Finally, if you’re looking for privacy, shaded terraces offer plenty of quiet corners to curl up with a book, and baths can be taken under the stars, or if you wish to go out, the services of a car and driver (inclusive of cost) are available.

Secluded, tranquil, enchanting, filled with facilities and oozing luxury, Villa Levi is perfect for families or groups of friends, ticking all the boxes for a superior Bali villa holiday.

Location

Villa Levi sits on a river island 200m down a long driveway, with only forest, fields, local houses and other private villas nearby, with a revered temple positioned on the opposite side of the river. Out on the main road are a couple of local shops selling basic grocery items and snacks, while less than two kilometres away is Echo Beach, with great surf and an enclave of cheap and cheerful but good quality seaside restaurants. A huge new apartment development will be opening soon at Echo Beach and will no doubt bring more great restaurants and retail outlets to the area.

About Canggu

Canggu is actually a small fishing village, but has become the collective name for a number of villages (including Berawa, Tegal Gundul, Tiyingtukul, Pererenan, Nelayan, Babakan ) which, despite lying within a developing area, can still be described as a sleepy coastal locale.

Here, amongst the rice fields which extend all the way down to the beach, you will find some of the most luxurious private residences on Bali. It is also an area that most surfers will know about, with reef swells that are larger than those you will find in Kuta further south. Swimming isn’t advisable however as the rips can be dangerous. Nearby sporting facilities include the Canggu Club (of which many holiday villas in the area include guest membership), offering social and leisure amenities, including a state-of-the art gym, a 25m swimming pool and a tennis and squash centre.

Along the coast to the north of Canggu is the Nirwana Bali Golf Club which was designed by Greg Norman and is frequently voted the number one golf course in Asia. Next to this is Pura Tanah Lot; a sea temple perched high on a craggy wave-lashed rock and probably the most photographed sight in Bali. Sophisticated Seminyak, a few kilometres south of Canggu, lays claim to the highest concentration of independent fine-dining restaurants on the island, including Sarong, La Lucciola and Ku Dé Ta, together with a wide choice of chic cocktail bars, exciting nightclubs, lavish spas and elegant boutiques.

About Bali

Bali is Indonesia’s most popular tourist location and is considered one of Asia’s premier tropical island destinations. Steeped in history and renowned for its artistic way of life, Bali is a peaceful contrast to some of the more frantic destinations Asia has to offer.

The inner peace and creative talents of the Balinese has attracted artists the world over fascinated by local dancers, silversmiths, wood carvers, potters and painters that seem to pervade throughout the island. The abundant verdant fields and surrounding sea have long supplied Bali with an easy surplus of food leaving time for life’s more artistic past times. As a result everything in Bali has a creative and religious element centred around the local Banjar (residents association) – little, adorned temples are everywhere, doors are covered in intricate carvings, huge kites ward off evil spirits and colourful roadside ceremonies bring traffic to a standstill.

Bali is a popular destination principally from Australia and Asia but also from all over Europe. The island welcomes thousands of visitors each year to a relaxing lifestyle, stunning beaches, world class surf, vibrant villages, and spectacular scenery all with an exquisite tropical climate. Located approximately two hours’ flying time from Singapore the island is serviced by an international airport at Denpasar with direct flights to and from many major cities in Asia, Europe and Australia and many more via Jakarta, Indonesia’s capital.

The island offers an impressive range of leisure and lifestyle amenities including world-class golf courses, wonderful seascapes for surfing, diving and snorkelling as well as luxurious spas, chic boutiques, tropical forests, towering volcanoes and international cuisine.

Rooms

Bedroom: 4
Sleeping Capacity: 8
Location: Bali
Villa Levi comprises four single-storey pavilions elevated above a terraced lawn and swimming pool, with a lower riverside level housing a bedroom/media room, gym and spa room.  Guests enter the villa via the open-sided, fan-cooled living pavilion, where a sofa big enough for 12 rests under a soaring thatched roof.

Conveniently integrated between the living and dining areas is a stylish guest kitchen, where a three-sided counter is flanked by six stools (a full service staff kitchen is tucked away at the back). The dining area lies next to the kitchen under the shelter of a pergola roof. This open-sided space is furnished with a solid teakwood table surrounded by comfy cushioned seating for 12.

There are four air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Levi, three of which are on the same level as the pool. The master is furnished with a king bed, while one of the guestrooms has a queen bed and the other has twin beds. The fourth bedroom, which can alternatively be used as a communal TV room is positioned beside the river and furnished with a queen bed. Each is equipped with a 40-inch satellite-channel TV/DVD player and each has an indoor/outdoor bathroom, all with rain showers and bathtubs – or in the case of the master a marvellous jungle bathroom complete with a large jacuzzi tub under the stars.  The master has an integrated sitting room, and two of the bedrooms have cosy dressing rooms furnished with large comfy couches.

On the lower level beside the river is an air-conditioned spa area, comprising a manicure/pedicure room, a massage room with a single massage bed, and a gym, which can also be used for yoga. From the pool, ironwood steps lead to a rooftop deck with views of the surrounding countryside and river.

Dappled by trees during the day and softly lit at night, the terraced gardens at Villa Levi comprise two lawns at different levels, perfect for small events. The 16m swimming pool features wide timber decking on three sides furnished with sunbeds, parasols and two tables, which can accommodate eight guests for alfresco dining, while a large flat-roofed bale pavilion provides laid-back relaxation.
